Day Three Creative Writing Prompt:
“I knew she/he was lying.” This is your opening – or closing – line.
Who is lying? Why? How can you be sure? Who else knows? When did you discover the truth? Where were you? Where are you now? What happens next? What are the implications if the liar is/isn’t exposed?
Try this in the present tense, as if the action is unfolding right now. If you work at it, even memoir can work with this treatment, and a story or poem always seems very immediate and urgent if written this way. Although having said that, I could be lying, right?
Back to Basics – if you need to catch up, it’s all here
I intend posting creative writing prompts here each day (until May Day) at 5pm – alive at five (Dublin time).
