Day Four Creative Writing Prompt:
What lies beneath?
Let your imagination run free!
Beneath the basement floor?
The benign expression?
The layers of old newspapers?
The cultured accent? The pile of turf? The freshly turned earth?
The old oak tree? The Atlantic Ocean? The Coronavirus outbreak?
Ah, go on! Something’s already sprung to mind, hasn’t it? Run with it, then, but try cramming that idea into a really punchy short, short story of just 100 words. Not 99 or 101, but 100 words (excluding the title). Are you up for the challenge? Every word must count. It can be set in the past, present or future and it can be fact or fiction – but try writing in the first person singular (just ‘I’ and ‘me’). Easy peasy, eh? Done in a flash!
Back to Basics – if you need to catch up, it’s all here
I intend posting prompts here each day (until May Day) at 5pm – alive at five (Dublin time).
