Day Nine Writing Prompt:
It’s a colour, it’s a fruit, it’s a weather warning, it’s a telecommunications company. In heraldry, orange is the colour symbolic of strength and endurance. Orange is a personality type. It is also a word that’s difficult to rhyme with (unless you’re Eminem).
Your task today is to free write (meaning just get down on paper or computer screen whatever comes to mind) as you think about orange/oranges. Go for 10 minutes (time yourself), then stop.
Now choose every fourth word and see if you can make a poem this way (you’re allowed to add extra words). If you can’t write a poem, perhaps you can produce a knitting pattern? Or a plan for world domination? Or a phoney historical document? Or a love letter? Or a story about orange chocolate chip cookies? Or an article about sunsets?
There are boundless possibilities here, because I’m sure you’ve heard about orange being the new black/red/blue/green/ginger (delete as appropriate)? So get creative with peel, pips and fluorescent roadside warning cones to produce a warm orange glow – go!
Back to Basics – if you need to catch up, it’s all here
I intend posting prompts here each day (until May Day) at 5pm – alive at five (Dublin time).
