This week’s creative writing prompt/exercise is another ekphrastic challenge. Not that the image is a work of art, of course.
But look at the picture. What do you see? Write something inspired by the image.
This could be a poem, a piece of flash fiction or a short story – or it could be a diatribe in the guise of creative non-fiction.
I mean, rubbish, fly-tipping, litter, garbage, waste, whatever you see here, should provoke a strong reaction (you can tell it did with me!).
So write down your anger, angst, worries, despair, reminders of the past, hopes for the future, suggested solutions, indifference (really?), whatever.
I give you 500 words to nail the essence of what is here and your take on what it means.
Strong opinions aren’t always mine, except when it comes to mindless litter and waste.
And just for context, here’s the bigger picture. Oh dear…
If you are new here and wondering what this is all about, check out the backstory here. Or just call back next week for another creative writing prompt/exercise – there’s a new one posted every Wednesday at 5pm, Dublin time.
